Episcopal Children's Curriculum (grades 1-4):
This unit will begin with the Season of Advent, the early weeks of the
church calendar. The last four sessions touch on selected portions
of Jesus teaching on Matthew 5-7 that we call the Sermon on the
Mount. Episcopal Curriculum for Youth (grades 5 and up): This session will focus on noted individuals in the Church. Entitled Called Through Faith, each session examines relationships with God and others. Each person's relationship with God is encountered, challenged, and nurtured by their experiences with God. Youth today are also seeking relationships with God, but often encounter doubts and questions. Seeing themselves as Christians in relationships with God in Jesus Christ as they live out the promises of the Baptismal Covenant is the hope for outcome of this course of study. |

Symbols of Faith: This wonderful study will focus on the many symbols children see in and around the church. From the rooster crowing to some of the beautiful crosses we see in our daily lives, the children will be using the Bible to discover the importance of these symbols.

Youth Group:
The
Youth Group offers activities for youth in grades 5-12. Ongoing
fundraising efforts by the youth allowed for the purchase of a
new playground set for Christ Church in spring 2008. During
Lent, the youth helped raise money for the Make It Right
foundation to rebuild homes in New Orleans for victims of
Hurricane Katrina. Other youth projects include community
clean-ups and ecumenical outreach programs such as our parish’s
efforts to help raise awareness and funds for the
Intergenerational Center for Southern Albemarle. Adult Coffee Hour in the Library: During Sunday School there will be coffee and light refreshments in the children's library. Come relax and enjoy this opportunity for fellowship. First Communion: Preparation is held as needed.

Confirmation Classes: Confirmation classes are held every other year with 4 to 8 people in the class. This past year there were 12 in the class. It was taught by the priest-in-charge. Preparation will be held in the fall of 2009.
Acolytes: The Acolytes are a group of boys and girls who take pride in participating in our worship services. They are actively supported by their families. If your child is interested in becoming a crucifer or server, please contact Eleanor Winsor - 286-4730.
The Altar Guild: The Altar Guild is composed of small groups of dedicated women in each of the three churches. They prepare beautiful altars each Sunday, as well as on special occasions.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Lay Readers: The Lay Eucharistic Ministers and Lay Readers are given their monthly schedule for each church well in advance, and are faithful and diligent in carrying out their assignments.
The Music: We have a talented Music and Choir Director at Christ Church. At present the choir numbers about six, due to age and decreased attendance. There is a talented pianist at St. Stephen’s Church, and a talented organist at St. John’s Church. The organists and pianist are paid.

Outreach Ministries: St. Anne’s Parish supports and works with the local Bread of Life food bank program and Meals on Wheels. The parish supplies food to needy individual families from our own shelves which parishioners stock weekly.
|
|
Episcopal Church Women (ECW): Until this past year a small, dedicated and hard working Episcopal Church Women’s group raised and gave money for Hospice, the Scottsville Fire Department and the Scottsville Rescue Squad, etc., and donated money to start and help maintain the parish Girl Scout troop, plus catering church social activities. ECW is responsible for UTO. Due to attrition and aging, it is semi-active.
Questors: Each month, from September through May but excluding the Lenten period, a group known as “Questors” meets to discuss a pre-determined subject selected at random from proposals put forward by participants at previous meetings. Subjects may be of a religious nature or not but we endeavor to bring Christian beliefs into the equation. The meetings are held on the fourth Friday evening of each month and the gatherings are open to all.
|
Fellowship: Each church has a coffee hour following Sunday morning services. At the Parish House we have “Second Sunday Soup” the second Sunday of each month, September through May. We have a pancake supper for the parish and community at the Parish House on Shrove Tuesday with many in the parish working together, cooking, serving and cleaning. We also have our annual parish spring and fall picnics on the grounds at Christ Church. Prayer Shawls: St. Anne’s recently started a knitting/crocheting outreach program to provide prayer shawls for the sick and elderly within our parish and community. As the shawls are completed, they are blessed and delivered to people in need.
